KHYBER AGENCY: Although the Pakistani border security officials had barred the Afghan truckers from entering Pakistan without legal documents, however, following a successful dialogue with transporters, the forces extended the deadline to the transporters to September 30, an administration official said on Friday.
As part of the National Action Plan, the Pak officials had implemented a restrictive mechanism system at Torkham to avoid the illegal entry on the border and the Pak border security had set a month’s deadline for the Afghan transporters to legalise their entry.
Following the end of the deadline, the Pakistan border security re-contained the border and without passport and visa, the Afghan transporters were not allowed to cross into Pakistan, although after a successful dialogue of the representatives of Pak and Afghan transporters, the officials delayed the policy till the end of the month, transporters said. Haji Azeemullah represented the Pakistan transport community while Haji Qasim from Afghan transporters held a meeting with the Pak border security officials in Torkham. The transporters regretted the confining policy of the Pak officials regarding transporters and said it would badly affect the transport carrying business. It is to be mentioned here that more than 80 per cent Afghan truckers are involved in transport between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
